Maia Dorothea Corvinus is the youngest child and only daughter between Bydeia Aynokion and Matthias Corvinus, and the younger brother to Xander. She is the childhood best friend of her maternal first cousin Nadiya Delphis.

Maia is the cousin to Cenerina, Marcus, and Leo from her father side of the family. On her mother's side of the family she is the cousin of the Sepher twins, Angelus, Kastor, Pollux, Lucretia, Kassius, Aydia, Caesarion, Laura, and the Delphis siblings.

Powers and Abilities

Arcane Power

Beau Monde - Maia possesses an Arcana Power that is a manipulator-type though is on the steady path to becoming an Evolved Arcana if should put more effort and training into it.

• Plant Manipulation - Maia can mentally and/or physically create, shape and manipulate plants, including wood, vines, plants, moss, and parts of the plants, such as leaves, seeds, roots, fruits and flowers. The user can cause plants to grow, move/attack or even rise from the soil and "walk", mutate plants by rearranging DNA structure and revive withered or dead plants. They can use their power for defence and support, cause flowers and other plants to bloom instantaneously, manipulate tree branches to use them as whip-like weapons, control spores and pollen, bring plants back to life and make them sprout seeds/fruits/berries, use plant chemicals to heal people/objects, and/or manipulate their properties for a wide range of effects.
  • Botanical Communication - Maia can communicate with all forms of plant-life, including flowers, trees, fruits, vegetables, pollen, etc. either telepathically, by speaking verbally, or by touching it physically. Plants can tell the user of what happened or what is happening, like helping them track someone from a long distance away, etc.
  • Location Analysis - Maia can analyze different locations, being able to obtain information about the structure, state and content of said location.
• Healing - Maia uses this form of mana manipulation for recovery purposes and she's described as talented as a healer mage.
• Confession Inducement - Maia can cause others to admit to a secret and misdeeds, whether it is personal or non-personal. Those affected by the her powers are often oblivious to the effects of this ability.
• Large Mana Power - Maia possesses a large amount of magic power. With study and training, she has developed offensive magic alongside her support magic, which is made possible by her large mana pool.

Skills

• "Expert" Horrible Cooking Skills - Despite having the cooking skills to work in a kitchen, all her cooking has either varying shades of purple, a dark purple smoke. The odor is strong enough to kill a bird from a distance. All dishes have different effects and always includes poison, which can either kill or severely injure. As cooking primarily involves food, it is not suitable for combat. The food can, however, be aimed at the face, specifically the nose and mouth.
• Sensory Tracking - Maia possesses the ability to sense mana-users from her surroundings. It is considered her specialty. She learns to differentiate between human and non-human magic.

• Mana Defense Mantle - This mantle provides Maia with defense against magical attacks. However, spells of significant strength can penetrate it.
• Communication Device - Maia possesses a small device that allows her to communicate with (*&*). It can send both audio and visual transmissions.

Etymology

• Maia is from Greek μαῖα (maia) meaning "good mother, dame, foster mother", perhaps in origin a nursery form of μήτηρ (meter). In Greek and Roman mythology she was the eldest of the Pleiades, the group of seven stars in the constellation Taurus, who were the daughters of Atlas and Pleione. Her son by Zeus was Hermes.
  • Maia is also is probably from Latin maior meaning "greater". This was the name of a Roman goddess of spring, a companion (sometimes wife) of Vulcan. She was later conflated with the Greek goddess Maia. The month of May is named for her.
  • Maia is also the Estonian and Basque form of Maria which is the Latin form of the New Testament Greek names Μαριάμ (Mariam) and Μαρία (Maria) - the spellings are interchangeable - which were from Hebrew מִרְיָם (Miryam), a name borne by the sister of Moses in the Old Testament. The meaning is not known for certain, but there are several theories including "sea of bitterness", "rebelliousness", and "wished for child". However it was most likely originally an Egyptian name, perhaps derived in part from mry "beloved" or mr "love".
  • It is also a variant of Maya means "illusion" in Sanskrit. In Buddhist tradition this is the name of the mother of Siddhartha Gautama (the Buddha).
• Dorothea is the feminine form of the Late Greek name Δωρόθεος (Dorotheos), which meant "gift of God" from Greek δῶρον (doron) meaning "gift" and θεός (theos) meaning "god". The name Theodore is composed of the same elements in reverse order. Dorothea was the name of two early saints, notably the 4th-century martyr Dorothea of Caesarea. It was also borne by the 14th-century Saint Dorothea of Montau, who was the patron saint of Prussia.
• Corvinus is derived from the Ancient Roman Gens "Corvina", (feminine form of corvino), both of which are from the Latin "corvus", meaning "Raven". The genus "Corvus" in the family "Corvidae", (which is itself within the superfamily "Corvoidea"), is the genus for Ravens, (as well as blackbirds, crows, jackdaws and the rook).
